Millions of people watched Monday night’s finale of The Bachelorette and while most are still talking about who Kaitlyn Bristowe chose to marry, I’m more interested in talking to the woman who kept her looking beautiful and fresh during those long shoot days. Good thing I know Gina Modica, the makeup artist who traveled by her side for eight weeks while she found her perfect match.
Here’s the scoop on how she kept this season’s bachelorette ready for her on camera close-ups:
Q: You’ve told me that 12 hour shoot days are common… how did you keep Kaitlyn looking young and fresh? What was your go-to base, foundation, shadows and powders for Kaitlyn?
A: I used Temptu S/B Airbrush Foundation and Cle De Peau Powder. I also used a lot of MAC ‘Pro Longwear’ Paint Pots because they stay on forever. For Kaitlyn’s eyeliner, I used: Make Up For Ever Aqua Black
Q: You can always count on cocktail parties, lots of kissing and tears on the show, how did you make sure Kaitlyn’s mascara and lipstick didn’t smudge?
A: The key to keeping her eyes from smudging: individual flare lashes and water resistant mascara. To keep her lipstick on, I would apply the lip liner all over her lip and then put the lipstick or gloss on top of it. Or a lip stain would help. But, if there was a lot of kissing going on the only thing to do was reapply.
Q: It looked like Kaitlyn was all about accenting her perfect pout this season. What lipsticks did you use?
