Meteorologist Evelyn Taft is way more than just another pretty blonde on the morning news in Los Angeles. She speaks fluent Russian, she is a mom of two and she knows A LOT about weather. She is incredibly smooth with her delivery and seems to effortlessly glide across the weather wall. She’s smart, sweet, stylish and down to earth. Evelyn is an inspiration to all working moms… and I’m proud to call her one of my BFFs!

Q: What’s your on-air signature look?  What are your favorite brands or places to shop?

A: These days it’s all about fit and flare dresses…they’re comfortable, fashionable and flattering post baby!

I’m a huge fan of Marciano…it’s pretty much my go to brand. Believe it or not, Forever 21 has a good selection of work dresses. Off 5th has great brand name dresses at cheaper prices…this is key when you need to keep a rotation going! I also wear a lot of non brand name dresses my girlfriend and former makeup artist here gets in downtown. She helps dress a lot of girls here at CBS at a fraction of retail cost.

Q: What does your weekend wardrobe consist of and how is it different from when you’re on the clock?

A: My weekend wardrobe is all about comfort. I swap out my heels for flats…these days, I opt for Birkenstocks. Yes, I rekindled my love for these sandals years later! I’m also a huge fan of yoga pants…lately I’ve been sporting Teekie…their patterns are a lot of fun so you still feel jazzy when you’re dressed down.

Q: What are your top 5 products that you always keep in your makeup bag?

Let’s see…

1) Glo-Therapeutics SPF 40 sunscreen & moisturizer…I don’t go a day without it

2) Eve Pearl concealer…light/fair…a must when you wake up in the 2 am hour!

3) Lipstick Queen…Vesuvius Liquid Lipstick in Blush…all about a 2 for 1 here…plus you can’t go wrong with a natural lip.

4) Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara…it’s a yellow tube of lash magic.

5) Speaking of lashes..I won’t leave for work without my Shu Uemura lash curler…who needs false lashes when you have this?? The combo of the latter is that amazing, I promise!

Q: What advice can you give working women who are looking to incorporate some of their personal style into their working environment, without crossing the line and looking inappropriate?

This is a tough line to walk…I can attest to that.

My rule of thumb is balance…if you’re wearing something a little more fitted on bottom, pair it with something conservative on top. A modern blazer is always a great go-to.

Or visa versa…a fitted top paired with a longer pencil skirt. Sheath dresses are always a sure bet too.

Stay away from the obvious–plunging necklines, mini skirts and anything you feel uncomfortable in. Comfort is key. When in doubt, throw it out! Or save it for the weekend 🙂
