Pops of Color, Patterned Wallpaper and Holiday Decorations Make Me Happy

When I first posted pictures of my newly renovated condo last month, I didn’t include a picture of my bedroom or office, so I thought I would share these that were recently taken below.  Clearly, I love to include pops of colors and patterns throughout my home… they make me feel good and make me smile.  That’s why I chose to paint my bedroom in a deep, lapis blue and include an accent wall covered in wallpaper by Schumacher.  I think it looks like an exotic Moroccan screen.

Growing up with a mom who is an interior designer, I learned early on that plants are an important component to an indoor space.  Unfortunately, I fall short when it comes to having a green thumb…I struggle to keep indoor plants alive so knowing that, I chose to use artificial palms throughout my place.  Yup, that one in the corner is faux, but you would never know unless you touched it 🙂

My favorite color is orange, so when interior designer extraordinaire (Momma Chan) showed me this wallcovering from Schumacher during the renovation process… I immediately said, “yes!” This wallpaper was inspired by Moorish tiles and I love it.  I’ve had an obsession with Moorish architecture ever since I visited The Alhambra in Southern Spain nearly a decade ago.  While the wallpaper is no longer available in Cinnabar, it is available in a muted beige called Flax.

Since it’s the holidays, I thought I would also share how I decorate and bring the spirit of Christmas into my home.  For me, it’s all about minimal decorations and music.  I love my Bose speaker… it’s connected to my iPhone through bluetooth, so it’s easy to play my music.  Yes, it’s small, but don’t let its size fool you, it fills the room with sound!

This time of year, I’m constantly playing Christmas music from the second I walk in the door to the second I leave.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
