Sedona is known as a modern mecca for alternative healing and many believe it is the most spiritual place in the U.S.
I recently took a three-day trip to the desert outpost. While driving in from Phoenix, a two-hour drive north from the airport, the massive Red Rocks took my breath away, but the stunning landscape isn’t the only thing Sedona offers. There are several vortexes, or energy centers, located in the area. Millions of seekers visit the area every year to connect with the energy centers which are said to be healing for the body, mind, and soul.
No matter what you believe, there is something about Sedona that made me feel good, as if I connected to Mother Nature which was comforting and healing.
I stayed at a beautiful resort called Enchantment, a 70-acre property located in Boynton Canyon. One of the four major vortexes is located on the property. I spent one day at the Mii Amo spa, relaxing by the pool, sweating at the gym, and resting my mind during a treatment called Harmony. It’s one of their signature treatments that includes a guided meditation with a therapist who within minutes brought me to tears. By the end of the 90-minute session, my mind was calm and I felt grounded and balanced. #takemeback
I also went on a photography tour with a woman named Susie Reed, who is passionate about landscape and rock art photography (her photos are permanently displayed in the Sedona Visitor and Information Center). She taught me the basics of using my way-too-sophisticated camera and I was thrilled to take my first photos of Cathedral Rock during the day (pictured above) and at dusk (pictured below).
On my final day, I went to L’Auberge, an upscale shabby chic resort located on the banks of Oak Creek. I was treated to a Quiet Mind massage that was one of the most relaxing treatments I’ve ever experienced (the therapist uses guided breathing techniques and incorporates acupressure points on the feet, hands, and head). After quieting my mind, we enjoyed a light lunch creekside.
Already planning my next trip to Sedona… have you ever been?!
