Getting My Feet Wet And Stepping Into A New Role

Many of you know that both my parents passed away within the last 4 years, but what you may not know is that the result of their untimely passing, allowed me to become part owner of Softub Spas (equal shareholders with my brothers).

It’s a company my dad, Tom, started 35 years ago and it’s an honor to be a part of it.

He started the company in his garage. Today, these portable tubs are sold in all 50 states and more than 30 countries around the world.

The main offices are located here in Valencia, California and the factory where the tubs are manufactured is located in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Tom was an engineer and one of the smartest men I’ve ever known. I’m not exaggerating…when I was in grad school, he helped me with Biostatistics and when I went back to school for my Meteorology degree, he helped me with Thermodynamics, easily solving the math problems by simply skimming the books.

But I digress. Back to the subject of Softub. Some of my fondest memories include family trips to places like France, Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. In addition to touring and eating our way through Europe (my parents loved to dine), we would also stop by Softub showrooms and chat with local dealers. Tom loved mixing business with pleasure and spending time with his international business associates was one of his favorite things to do. He certainly felt a sense of pride and accomplishment at what grew to be a worldwide business.

Two things Tom always said to me that I’ll remember forever:

“Libs, you’re my favorite daughter. You’re my only daughter, but you’re my favorite daughter.” ❤️

“If you work hard and you love what you do, you’ll be successful.”

Tom, I hear you loud and clear. 🙏

I’m so grateful I can carry on my dad’s legacy and now do what he always asked me to do for years…to be a part of the family business. I joined the Softub marketing team and now help promote a product I love and believe in. A product that helps people relax and de-stress (more on the benefits of hydrotherapy in a later post 😉).

I should mention, my father was always concerned about the environment. His corporate philosophy was to never put profits ahead of the environment. He was green before green was cool (stay tuned for more on the company’s environmentally responsible practices in later posts).
