Q&A WITH KTLA’S KACEY MONTOYA

She’s blonde, beautiful and bold.  KTLA’s Kacey Montoya is a petite powerhouse who isn’t afraid to speak her mind, work hard and get to the bottom of a story… and she does it all while looking pretty perfect when she’s either out in the field or in studio.

So how does this Emmy-award winning journalist and weathercaster always look so good?  Here are a few of her secrets:

Q: What’s your on-air signature look?  What are your favorite brands or places to shop?

A: I definitely have my favorite brands and stick with them ..my new favorite is Dainty Hooligan.  I love them even more because they are local! I probably have 20 dresses from their site and they are VERY affordable. There are also several dresses in my closet from local stores Varga and Hilme… where I’ve never spent more than $100 on a dress.  I’m a long-time fan of Express and some of my go-to brand’s from Macy’s are Rachel Roy and Bar III.  And I do love DVF — but that’s a splurge!  It’s important to me to be comfortable because I live in a news van most days… and it’s nice to be able to go straight from work to lunch or dinner with friends, so I think about that too when I’m shopping.

Q: What does your weekend wardrobe consist of and how is it different from when you’re on the clock?

A: Even when I’m not working out I’m usually wearing workout clothes or a sundress and 90% of the time…UGGS!

Q: What are your top 5 products that you always keep in your makeup bag?

1) Clinique CC Cream

2) Anastasia Illumin8 Bronzer in Sun-Kissed

3) Too Faced Blush (Pink Leopard)

4) Sephora Lip Stain… lots of Mac & Nars Lip Glosses & CARMEX

5) Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Very Black

Q: What advice can you give professional  women who are looking to incorporate some of their personal style into their work wardrobe?

You need to feel good in what you’re wearing…so that’s most important. If you have a favorite color..wear it! But don’t go overboard with jewelry and big earrings.  Less is more in my opinion. Keep it classy too… a super short skirt that you might wear on the weekend isn’t appropriate at work.  If you are wearing something where you are afraid to bend over because something might “pop out” — probably leave it in the closet for the weekend!
