The Best Day of My Life 😍

The day my man asked me to marry him was literally the BEST day of my life. What’s more, it was followed up by the best week of my life.

In case you’re interested, here are some of the deets:

One year to the day since our first date, we had plans to go to a vineyard in Santa Barbara to celebrate. Luis told me he wanted to make our one year anniversary special by taking a trip up north. He mentioned we would be taking a shuttle bus so he didn’t drink and drive. That morning was the first time I caught him in a lie

The “shuttle bus” ended up being a private jet. Once we hopped on the plane, he told me we were going to Paso Robles instead of Santa Barbara
second lie. đŸ€” ✈

Once we started climbing up into the air above LA, he turned on a beautiful song by Andrea Bocelli — we both LOVE the tenor — and then proceeded to give me a piece of paper with a poem written in 4 different languages: Spanish (his native language since he’s from Peru), Italian, English, and Chinese (my mom’s native tongue). He told me, “You’re going to want to record this, so you should put your phone up on your tripod.” Yes, I always have it handy since I’m constantly shooting for social media content and my blog; video is on my IG.

Seconds after I set up my phone, Luis got down on one knee and began reading the poem. The beautiful prose brought me to tears. After reading it, he took out a box with the most spectacular ring I’ve ever seen…more tears followed.

With stars in my eyes and my heart full of love, I said, “Yes.” After putting on the ring, he added, “There’s one more thing. I’d like to take both hands in marriage.”

That’s when he reached into his bag and took out another box with a sparkling tennis bracelet inside. Cue the tears again…I mean, BOTH HANDS? Could he be more romantic?!

Kisses and champagne followed as we flew to Paso Robles and spent the afternoon in the middle of a vineyard alone together under an Oak tree—eating lunch, listening to music, and drinking wine.

The ride home was followed by one last surprise that day. Luis’ three children, Alicia, Alex and Andrew, plus my brother, Cory, were at the house when we got home. Alicia had decorated the space with rose petals and balloons. The perfect end to the perfect day.

The surprises continued the day after I said “Yes.” Luis organized a catered lunch for my closest friends and family. He also organized a Zoom call for those who could not make the soiree.

The last surprise happened Sunday morning: Luis whisked me away for an engagement moon at the Four Seasons, Punta Mita, Mexico. We spent one week relaxing and soaking up the sun, letting love lead the way.
